I smell the school holidays!

Baked cookies for my speech therapy kids on the last week of school term. Food can be a great reinforcer in therapy sessions. Of course, ensure that you have a no nuts policy in your cooking, and ALWAYS clear the foods with your students’ parents before feeding them as you never know what other allergies kids could have.

I used these cookies to wrap up the term by having the kids use a frosting gel pen to write down on the cookies all the goals we’ve worked on this last term. The kids absolutely enjoyed writing and drawing pictures on the cookies. I could’ve made the surfaces flatter and more “writing” friendly but it was amazing what recalls the students had when they had a carrot – or a cookie – dangling over the brains! 🙂
